  • ADSI Path Backwards

Is there an easy way to display the ADSI backwards? In lay man terns this would be thought of largest to smallest, or starting with the domain and working to the specific object?

We don't have a way to do that in the application, so you would have to work with the output using something like Microsoft Excel or a script.

That is what I've been doing. But how about attacking it this way. Is there a way to show primary, secondary and so forth OU's?

We have the Special AD Symbols you can add under File > Manage Object View > AD Queries. Change the Query Type to Special AD Queries and you'll see: %SYM_AD_TOP_CONTAINER%, %SYM_AD_CONTAINER_NODOMAIN%, %SYM_AD_CONTAINER%. Add them to your query and see if they help.

The only way to display the ADSI path backwards is to add the attribute 'CanonicalName' to your query. Its in the 'General Directory Object Attributes' category. It displays the path like this:

          x64.com/OU_Level1/OU_Level2/Object_cn
