How do I expand the Reports window view of Servers to contain other fields than current?

  • #2
The 'Servers' object in Hyena's left window is populated from the Windows browse list, and does not contain other information. To get more information on Servers, right click on the All Computers object under your domain, and then select Query Active Directory > Computer (Detailed). The default listing for this directory query will contain most of the useful computer-related directory properties. This query can be customized as well with other attributes.

Let us know what you are looking for if you don't see in the detailed directory query.

Customer said: "Too bad it would be good if you guys could use the browser list as a first step and then query for the computer information. I would suggest that if anyone is going to use the Computers to query the server, they should set it up so that the sort is on the OS and that you also include the service pack and version columns.

That kind of brings me to another wish. It would be nice to be able to set up secondary sort in all of the default AD queries."

We can't really use the browser list as a starting point in case its either not available at all, or only partically accurate. What we do have though, is the opposite, as an option:

Tools > Settings > View > "Integrate browse list with Active Directory computer listing"

If that option is turned on, Hyena will query AD for the computer listing, then overlay the browse listing and change the image icon so you may have a visual indication of where a computer is 'present' or not on the browse list.

An idea for a secondary sort is a good idea, but sort of complicated as Microsoft only designed the list control for a primary sort. You can filter out using the "Green Funnel" on the toolbar and sort after filtering, but that is the only way I know of to do a secondary sort.
