  • Not reporting all machines within Domain

I am trying to export all the local adminsitrators from every machine within the domain. I run the exporter and select members - I select both the server and workstation local groups and add in the administrators group into the Specific Groups to report.

The exporter starts to runs but I do not get all the workstations/laptops within our domain to report against.

I have hyena 8.5 and have full domain admin rights.

Please can anyone tell me why dont all machines report back. I am missing about half the domain.

    many thanks

    Tony

The problem is going to be with your Windows Browse List. The older Exporter uses the Browse List to get the computers to report against. Your best bet would be to use Exporter Pro instead.

    Here are some instructions:

Either click on your domain, or select the computers in Hyena's right window, then go to Tools->Exporter Pro->Export From Selected Objects.
Click the Settings button, then double-click on Windows NT/Local Group Members.
Check the box to Export Group Members, then enter in an output file such as c:\groups.txt.
Check the box to Only export information for groups listed in this file.
Enter in a file name such as c:\grpmembers.txt and click Edit.
Notepad should open and tell you the file doesn't exist, then ask you if you want to create it. Click Yes.
In the file enter in Administrators then save the file and close Notepad.
Click OK, then click Close, then click Start Export.
When it is finished exporting you can open c:\groups.txt with Excel and you will see the members of the Administrators group for the selected computers
