Can I schedule Hyena V8 to capture what files are open on a server on a given interval?

    Re: Report on Open Files

Not Hyena, but Exporter Pro has a command line option to allow it to be run in a Scheduled Task. So, you might be able to configure it to run the Open Files export and then schedule that.

      Re: Report on Open Files

OK so I have been trying to figure this out seat of my pants and reading the manual... makes me dangerous. I have run it both from with Exporter and the command with the same results. The output files grows never ending with most of the data being my communication with the server. A get an out put file full of:
      \\Servername JoeH \PIPE\srvsvc 176013 35 0

How do I take a snap shot of the open files on a server and end run.

Let me look at how this works to see if I can spot any problems. Do you have Hyena, and if so, what does it report for open files ?

          Yes I have Hyena.

Here is a snippet of the open put file, the last line ( OPenFilesPath= \PIPE\srvsvc) will go forever.

            Re: Report on Open Files

I assume you get the open files listing in Hyena fine, and Exporter Pro has exactly the same code, with the exception of sending the output to a file. Do you have the output file in Exporter Pro going to the same server ? If so, that might be the cause. See if you can change the output file location to a different server entirely.

Yes Hyena works as I would expect, it 'snapshots' the open files and stops.

Yes I am going to the same server(the server is old, Windows 2000 which I suspect is the issue).

The output file goes onto my local WinXP workstation into the default location (program files\Hyena)

              More info:

I'm using the default HYENA_EXPORT.INI which I copied/renamed to ARAN_EXPORT.INI but did not edit anything in the file.

I believe this is also using the default HYENA_EXPORT.DAT file.

                Re: Report on Open Files

Let me get you a slightly modified version of EP later today that will use a larger buffer (like Hyena does) to see if it can get past seeing your own connection handles.
