  • E-Discovery

Just had this put on me today and need to get at least something out by tomorrow, so I'm hoping for the best here.

"It’s quite possible these users are no longer in AD but still have home directories on given file servers.. some detective work will be necessary.
Need to count all objects in a user’s home directory and provide a total byte count associated with that user. For example: John Doe has 100 objects totaling 200Megs on fileserver03. Include User Name, Server Name (where objects are), and total bytes on the report. Need this by Wednesday (sooner is better)"

Any ideas as to how to best approach this? I know for a fact that some of the users in the list have been gone for 2 or more years.

    Re: E-Discovery

Our Exporter Pro has an export called File/Directory and includes a field called Dir Files (Bytes) that adds up file sizes as it outputs file information. That should give you what you are looking for. The only problem is you end up with a lot of data depending on number of files and directories scanned.
