  • Local error occured in export directory info

I am running an export of user, group and other info from an 2000/2003 AD.

It is coming up with an internal error, how do I find out more information to troubleshoot?

    What exactly is the error?

      That's my question too!

All I see is a number of export progress messages. The first one is "DOMAINNAME Exporting directory information for 'Detailed User'...Unable to open directory object 'LDAP://DOMAIN NAME.com'. A local error has occurred."

I am using an authenticated user (with Domain Admin rights) as my normal account & my laptop do not belong to this domain.

One thing I tried was to right click over the domain in question and select 'account policy'. It is saying "The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you contact the server that authenticated you."

      Any thoughts?

Go ahead and send a couple of screenshots of all of this to [email protected] so we can see what you have setup at this point and what you are running into.

          Screenshots provided by e-mail offline.

Screenshots showed I'm using Hyena v7.7 and the errors arose whilst using the Exporter Pro tool.

More details to be added in posts below.

Post added with solution to help others in the future....

Offline help from SystemTools (thanks Chuck) indicated that the problem was due to using ExporterPro module to extract AD information.

The problem is that ExporterPro is a separate program that does not use the 'Authenticate As' credentials provided to the main part of Hyena.

The solution here was to use Run As and provide valid domain credentials. I couldn't get this to work from Windows, but this worked using Run As from DOS command prompt as follows:

            runas /user:domainname\accountname /netonly cmd

You are prompted for password and this then brings up a new command (DOS) window using the account credentials entered in the run as line above. Navigate to where the Hyena progam files are located (e.g. C:\Progam files\Hyena) and then start ExporterPro from DOS (the progam is called stexport).

.. hey presto ... you can export Windows AD information using different credentials than those you logged in with on your computer!
