  • Exporter Pro Disk Capacity Usage Reports

Hello, I am trying to create a capacity report from all our Windows servers using Exporter Pro. I add the Disk object to my reports and that seems to work fine.

However, I also configured the Computer Filter and that doesn't seem to work. I tell it I want computer types PDC, BDC and NT Server. NT Computer, Windows and Windows for Workgroups are all unchecked. Under Function I checked all buttons except for Workstation. None of the Browser State buttons are checked.

When I try to run the report with these parameters it does give me a nice disk capacity report but it reports on ALL the computers in my domain. I am ONLY looking for the servers, and I don't want to have to sift the desktops out of my report.

    Any ideas?

What object or objects do have in Exporter Pro's Object List window? Do you also have Hyena? If you have Hyena you can also choose the Servers from the Servers folder and use the Export From Selected Objects option.

I don't have any objects in the Exporter Pro Object List window.

I do have Hyena and I tried to right click on the Servers object but nothing comes up under tools. If I expand the Servers object though I see all my servers on the domain.

See if this works for you:

Double-click on the Servers folder in Hyena to display them in the right-hand window. In the right-hand window select the servers you want, or ctrl-a to select them all.

Then go to the Tools menu at the top of Hyena and choose Exporter Pro->Export From Selected Objects.

OK that worked, got a report with servers only. But there were some errors generated that I'll address separately (could be permissions issues).

What if I want to manually edit the list though? Do I have to go into the .ini that the report created? Even if I open the report within Exporter Pro, the Object List is still empty. Odd.

Also and here's the hard part. I would like to add the DMZ servers to this report as well. But they don't use AD authentication and are not on the domain. How would I go about that?

What might actually work better for you in that case would be to create a file of all the computers you want to report on and import that into Exporter Pro. The file will have one line per computer and you'll use the option to Import Object File in Exporter Pro.
