  • Servers not showing up under Domain\Servers tab

    All,
I've been trying to pull reports for local admin membership for all my windows servers. i've done this sucessfully before but now when I open Hyena, and browse to the Domain\servers container, some servers show up here and some don't. The ones that don't show up here I can see if I browse through the OU that they are in. I can also see them in the Computers container. Neither of these options help me really because I need to run the report on all servers at once.

    Any help?

The list of computers for the Servers folder comes from your Windows Browse List. Missing servers indicates that for some reason those servers are missing from your Browse List. Unfortunately there's no way to add to that list, except to figure out why those servers aren't showing up on your browse list.

Where does it pull this list from?

It's based on Browsing on your network. Same list as you see in Network Neighborhood or My Network Places.

When I browse my network via My Network Places on the workstation that i have Hyena installed on, I am able to see all of my servers.

I don't know if Network Neighborhood uses the same protocols as the network browser, but the published interface NetServerEnum relies on the browse list. What usually causes this is the browser service is not running on either your computer or the remote computers, or something is blocking the browser broadcast messages, preventing the master browser from getting the list.

The browse list is the only method of determining a 'server' from other computers, which is why we still have it, but you can get to your servers through an OU or some other organization method.
