  • Copying printers from one server to another

I had a server crash over the weekend and have since restored operation. I had another server with all the printers and ports running as a backup this week. I want to copy those printers back over but keep getting 1 of 2 different error messages. the two servers are on the same vlans. I either get invalid time or rpc server unavailable. Any suggestions?

The RPC error is typically some sort of communication error. Keep in mind that Hyena won't copy printer drivers over, so you'll have to make sure the drivers are on the server first.

You might try manually installing a printer on that server, then see if you are able to copy other printers (those that would use the same drivers.)

I guess I don't understand what you mean by create on the other server then try to copy. wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the copy?

Not when you have multiple printers. You would create the first one manually, then use the copy function to copy the rest.

Ah, I gotcha. I just tried thatwith the first printer. I created the first printer on server b and tried to copy two. I then got the error "The specified time is invalid." The servers are in a different time zone so I tried changing their zone for testing and still got the same error. anymore ideas? thanks for the fast responses!
