  • Custom AD Attributes

I am trying to add a custome AD attribute to to a query in Exporter Pro. The attribute that I am trying to add is Managed-By (ldap display name is managedby). I have tried to add a couple of other also, but no values show up when I run the query.

Is there a certain way these attributes have to be added?

As long as the attribute exists for the object types you are exporting, you can simply add it in the Other box on the template you are using. In your example you would use managedby.

Thanks. I am looking for the attribute that shows who is the current owner of a user. Do you know if I have the right one (managedby)?

The owner I am looking for is the one shown in the properties of a user, under object, security, advanced, owner.

        Re: Custom AD Attributes

Security information is not maintained as attributes in AD, like other information. Its part of the security descriptor, which can't be read in this way.

We don't currently offer anything to view the owner of a directory object. We may look at adding an option on the View Directory Security option to show the owner, but that would have to wait for the next release.

I don't understand something. I can right-click an AD object within Hyena (6.7), choose Properties, click the Object tab, and click the Security button and view the object owner information.

Why can this not be exported using Exporter Pro?

            Re: Custom AD Attributes

Because the security information is not something that is maintained in an AD attribute. To see all of the attributes, right click on any object and select Listing Views->User (All). The information that you see on the security tab is not part of this information. We may either try to add the owner information to our Security View displays or modify Exporter Pro to dump the AD security information. But either way, its complicated.
