  • New to Hyena Reporting

Hello! My company has just purchased some new licenses for Hyena and we plan to use it primarily for reporting information from the AD system for auditing purposes. I've explored the export functions in Hyena and viewed the Access reports. I want to make sure that I am fully aware of the resources available, so I'd like to have any suggestions on tools or websites that I might look into for advanced reporting features.

Also, I see that a lot of the posts and web articles regarding Hyena indicate that filtering and sorting is done outside of the application with things like Excel and Access. Is this true for basic reporting?

    Thanks!

    Re: New to Hyena Reporting

You can view data in Hyena's right window, and then filter/sort that data. Or, you can export that information out and use Excel or Access, whichever you prefer. The export functions of Hyena will create delimited text file outputs that can be opened with Excel or Access for further reporting as well.

I see that Hyena supports Macros and scripting. Where might I find information on what commands can be used for Macro scripting? Thanks!

        Re: New to Hyena Reporting

The Generate Macro feature gives you the ability to quickly generate a text file of repetitive commands. For example, it can be used to quickly create a batch file to carry out a sequence of commands such as a command line utility, etc.

You can find more information on this in Hyena's help file.

There's also a Custom Tools forum on this discussion board with lot's of great information on creating Custom Tools in Hyena.
