  • Exporting does not report on all servers any more

I have an older version of Hyena, but I use it to run report of domain to check services running, available disk space and others.

Everything has worked fine, but recently, when I try to run a export, it only reports on a single DC. I right-click the DC to select logon as, but it used to report on all servers, not just a single DC. Did I change something? Any ideas how can I get it to work right again?

There's a quite a few variables involved in trying to answer that one. Can you give us more details as to what version of Hyena, how you are running the export, your environment, etc?

      Hyena 5.0

Domain is Win2k. I added the domain in the past, but I removed and readded to make sure that wasn't the issue.

I right click a DC and slect Logon As to present credentials to gather data, as my laptop is not joined to the domain.

I select the domain in the left pane, go to the FILE menu and select EXPORT. I select the domain on the GENERAL tab of the popup (so it shows in Domain to Export field. As an example, if I select Servers in the DRIVE tab, it only dumps details of drives in main DC, not all server.

The export is I think the same properties as prior. I have tried some variations, since having issue, but no luck.

My theory would be one or both of the following:

        1. Permissions. The Logon As would not give you domain-wide permissions in an Active Directory domain, so you are probably being denied access by the other controllers.

        2. The old Exporter used the Windows Browse List to get it's list of computers. If you are not getting a complete list of servers in your browse list, this would also cause it not to report all servers.

It does seem to be a permissions issue. How would I give Hyena the correct credentials at the domain level?

It seemed to work wihout issue before so I am not sure what has changed. If I manually go to 2 server and select the Login As, I can then report on both servers. Any ideas?

You can try right-clicking on Hyena.exe and using Run As, but you may need to join your laptop to the domain or just install it on a computer in your domain.
