  • Exporting Share Properties/Security Permissions To Output File

I am new to Hyena. My company is running Hyena v6.5. I have been asked to try and find a way to take all of our shares (some public and some private) for multiple servers and export a list of the share name, trhe user/group with access, and the type of access to that share so that we can keep up with who has access to what. I know that I can do a CTRL+A and CTRL+C and copy to a Windows clipboard, but I assume that there MUST be a better, more automated way to get this output.

I think that what I want to do is done through the Exporter Pro, but I am unsure of how to use it properly and have not had success yet. I do not have MS Access on my PC but could get it put on if needed. Is is possible to generate this output to an Excel file or text file? Could someone please help me at least get started? Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Camille

Exporter Pro would be your best bet as it creates a delimited text file output that can be opened with Excel.

You'll select the computers you want this information on in Hyena, then go to Tools->Exporter Pro->Export Selected Objects. Click the Settings button, then double-click on Security Access. Enable it for export, specify an output file name, and check the box for Shares. Click OK, then Close and then Start Export. When complete you can open the output file with Excel.

Thanks so much! I only tried this with one server but I bet it works with multiple servers, doesn't it?

That is correct. Just select them in Hyena's right-hand window, then use the Export Selected Objects option.
