  • Need to dump all servers with their Active Directory OU information

How do I dump all servers with their Active Directory OU information? I can't see where I can create a custom query for servers. All I see are the Computer name, Comment, Type, and domain. I need to know what OU each server is in.

    Help!

Re: Need to dump all servers with their Active Directory OU information

The information used to build the Servers folder comes from the Windows browse list, which doesn't have any AD data.

You would have to find them in either the Computers folder, or navigate through Containers/OUs.

You may not be able to get a list of servers from AD, as there isn't really a field to just designate 'servers' in the directory.

But, if you don't know the OU(s) that your servers might be in, you can click on the main OUs for your domain, which should display a toolbar on the bottom of Hyena's GUI. Click the red button up once, then click down the first toolbar button and the second button. This will allow Hyena to search the entire directory tree for computers.

Next, click the first toolbar button, select AD Queries, select the "Containers/OUs" query type, and select the one query that is defined for this objectype. Change the Attribute Category to be "Computer Attributes", then add the OS directory attribute. Click OK to save, then right click on the Containers/OUs object, select Tabular Views->, then select your query (you should have only one).

Look to see if your servers appear the way you expect for the OS field.

If you want, you can go back and add another query for the Containers/OUs object instead of modifying the default one.

Let us know what you find.
