  • ADS Reporting

Im a new user of Hyena, and a have a few reports I need to generate.

    How do I:
1.) Make a report of all users on the ADS domain with the folders they have access to.

2.) Make a report of all groups on the ADS domain with the folders they have access to.

3.) I've done a report with the all the users on the ADS domain with the group that are in. But the other 2 reports escape me.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    -Casey

    Re: ADS Reporting

Your only option there is going to be one server at a time, by going to the Shares object on the server and right-clicking on one or more shares and choosing View NTFS Security.

Once that displays you can save the data from the right window to a delimited text file for further reporting.

      Re: ADS Reporting

I am able to get the:
      User:John Doe
      Group:Accounting, Applications, FAS

      Report, but
the other way will take forever. Is there anyway to get the reports out of Exporter Pro?

I need it in a format similar to:
      User:John Doe
      Folder(s): Accounting, Applications, IT

Then I would need one for groups:
      Group:Accounting
      Folders(s): Accounting, JVS, FAS

      Any ideas?

      Thanks again,
      -Casey

        Re: ADS Reporting

We don't have a way to export NTFS data at this time. You can export Share Permissions with Exporter Pro, but the only way to get NTFS is using the method above.

Thanks for the info, I've been racking my brains trying to make this happen. Is there any software that will do what I need?

            Re: ADS Reporting

We plan to add this type of reporting to Exporter Pro in a future release. The problem is that this data is not stored in Active Directory, but rather with each file and directory. So, utilities have to scan every file and directory's ACL to get the permissions that have been set. This is why the method mentioned above takes awhile because it has to go to each file.
