Error exporting WMI errors every time

Hi am i the only one who gets an error exporting the WMI informtion from a single or remote machines. Im in a AD 2003 environment and can get all the other export features working but when i try get ANY WMI info back i get the following error

"...Unable to connectg to WMI on machine-name.xxx.xxx.com WMI RESULT 0x80041008 => Invalid Parameters and then 2 small box characters." This is using any WMI query with the built in configuration options. It all seems confgiured correctly.

If i can get this working i will buy it today as the rest of the application seems awesome.

I am a domain admin for the domain and domain admins are in the local administrators on ALL machines.

If you have Hyena, see if you can get a typical WMI query to work on that remote computer. I noted from the error that you have a DNS-style name and we found some bugs/strange behavior in WMI and DNS names. We worked around those problems in Hyena but may have them in Exporter Pro.

Also, if you still get the error in Hyena, see if you can get CIM Studio from Microsoft to reproduce the same error. It helps to get the error confirmed that way. Let us know if you need a link to CIM Studio, I think there is one in Hyena's Help file in the WMI section.

Hi again.

tried it again (still using the evalutation cos if this works im gonna buy it)

Also tried the same thing on another machine as avalutaion, all im doing is selecting the default WMI exporter Pro reports, choosing an AD computer and running. It fails with the same error as last time.

I can use VBScript (i use quite a few already in daily logon scripts) and WMI Scriptomatic to query ANY WMI info on any PC, its just Hyena that gives me the sam error everytime. I wanna prove to the boss that this is the deal that we need but the one bit of info i really need that i havent got is all the WMI stuff.

PLEASE help me.

Before I try to troubleshoot this from the Exporter Pro side I need to know if it works from Hyena. Exporter Pro has nothing to do with Hyena. Does Hyena's WMI queries also return this error, or just Exporter Pro ?

yes no problem with the WMI in Hyena, just with the export Pro. i am on a windows XP SP1 client machine in a windows 2003 AD domain. cant remember if i said that before.

OK, finally figured out the problem. It turned out to be missing backslashes from the server path causes WMI to fail. This problem will be fixed in rev 'B' of Exporter Pro v1.5. I'll post a patch by the end of the week to Hyena v6.0 (also rev 'B') which will include this fix.

thats great. im so impressed that you can get so much assistance from an apllication support forum and they are happy to fix something that quickly.

I un-installed the previous install and installed rev B which includes Rev B of Exporter Pro version 1.5.

i still get the same errors. When i create a custom registry query to get default file locations of office documents i get the same error too!

purchased the product today guys so dont let me down. I have emailed you the error that comes up (the error happens when you select any WMI query in Hyena or exporter pro) the message in exporter pro is the same as at the start of my thread above.

I checked like 10 times and it definitely is 6.0 Rev B
