  • Identifying w2k prof. -vs- w2k server

When exporting installed software and hot fixes is there a way to indentify a W2k prof. workstation from a W2k server?

I have looked high and low and have not found a way to do this.

    Thanks in advance.

You would have to get the computer information separately. There might be a registry key that can be read, or possibly from WMI but you'll have to dig around to see if you can find a key that would differentiate the two.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep looking around but so far no luck.

      Thanks again.

The caption property for the WMI class Win32_Operatingsystem may reflect this information. See what it is on your system, then search the registry on one of these computers for this string.

Is WMI being used in the Hyena software to export data? If so where can I point Hyena to run a pre written-script that would give me the info. I need.

          Thanks

WMI is part of v6.0, which is currently only available in a beta. To get the beta, send a blank email to [email protected].

Once you get that, let us know if you have any questions.
