  • Exporting installed software

I am trying to export installed software from a single machine and can not get it to work. after following these steps I end up with a 1k file with no real usable information in it except the machine name.

This is how I attempted to export:

You'll select your computers in Hyena that you want this information reported on, then go to Tools->Exporter Pro->Export Selected Objects.

Click the Settings button where you will choose the information you want exported. For installed software, click on Registry, then Export Properties.

Check the box beside Installed Software Applications then click the Properties button so you can see what will be exported and to what file.

Click OK and then Close to return to the Export Selected Objects dialog, then click Start Export.

I have tried this process several times and get the same result everytime.

    Any thoughts.

    Thank you in advance.

Follow the steps you pasted above and when you get to the properties for the Installed Software Applications you'll see the name of an output file. Unless you changed this, it should be apps.txt.

Search your drive for that file and open it with Excel.

            Re: Exporting installed software

One last question. Where can I find detailed documentation on Hyena? I downloaded a 26 page installation/user guide that is okay but I need alittle more?

            Thanks

              Re: Exporting installed software

The help file is the most extensive documentation at this point, and it can be printed out if needed.

              Online Help is here:

                Re: Exporting installed software

Please note that the exporting functions are not really part of Hyena, but are part of Exporter Pro (stexport.exe), and are in a separate file named stexport.chm. There should be a shortcut to this file on the Hyena program group.
