  • Domain master browser

When checking only the "domain master browser" checkbox, I do not see any servers returned. When I choose the "master browser" checkbox, I do see the PDC emulator as well as other servers that appear to be legitimate master browsers for their respective TCP/IP subnets. What does Hyena use to determine the domain master browser? I've looked at my various WINS servers and the 1B entry is pointing to the IP address of the PDC emulator.

Hyena queries the Windows Browse List for this information, so for some reason your Browse List isn't reporting any computers with this attribute.

Try running an Exporter Pro (Computers) export and make sure that the browser states are added to the output. This will give you a clearer picture about what all of the browser states are for all computers, as Hyena has not clear way to show them.

Thanks for the prompt response! I ran exporter and none of the machines shows the isdomainmasterbrowser attribute. Obviously this is not an issue with Hyena, but do you have any idea where this located within the registry, and why my PDC emulator would not be appearing as the domain master browser?

Browsing issues are hard to fix. Try searching for "domain master browser" on MSDN or www.microsoft.com. But unless you think that there is a problem, I would not worry too much about it.
