Thanks for taking time to reply. I will have to try the "SQL Server" filter to see if works for both SQL Server and MSDE (as well as with the current SQL Server 2000 version and V7 and 6.5).

Discover all SQL Servers in a domain

I'm somewhat new to Hyena Exporter but like what I see so far. I'm trying to use Exporter Pro in V5.7C in an attempt to discover all SQL Servers and all MSDE SQL Servers in a domain. So far, I'm having pretty good success by searching the Registry on all serves for the following keys:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server

Has anyone done this before? Do you think I'm approaching this correctly? I do not want to miss any servers and would like to find a 100% reliable method to discover all SQL and MSDE servers in a domain. So many third-party products us MSDE that it's easy to miss them and ignore security and backups for these servers. I need an automated tool to periodically discover all SQL and MSDE servers in a domain. Any feedback welcome. Thanks!
