We are currently running Hyena version 4.1

Is there a way, when running a report, to get the service pack information for a computer. I need to upgrade some pc's to service pack 4, and it would be great to know who needs to be done. Please note I am a complete rookie at running the reports.. Thanks ahead of time for any help I receive.

In that version you will get this by going to File->Export->Computers. Enter an output filename and check the box at the bottom to Export Computer Properties.

After running this, open the output file with Excel for further sorting and printing.

This is a stupid ? The Exporter is not Exporting the machines out of the domain, correct ??

Also, if not, is there a way to find Orphaned machines in the Domain. When createing a new machine fo someone, we Always forget to delete the old machine. Is there a way to figure out dead machine names ?

No, it is just reporting the information, not actually modifying anything.

As far as your other question, is your domain Windows 2000/2003 or Windows NT?

Almost all of the adc's have been upgraded to 2003. We have 3 or 4 that are still 2000.

              Re: Service pack info

A really good tool to get this info (machine password age) is NetPWAge.exe. You can get it from http://www.optimumx.com/download.

It will show how recently machines in your domain have changed the password for their machine account - by default NT does this every 7 days, and you can tailor the output of this tool to give you all the machines that have not renewed thei password within the last 7, 10, 14 days (whatever) and then check the list to make sure that none of them are still active (maybe they haven't rebooted for a long time, or are normally turned off and gathering sust in the corner of an office) and then delete these accounts from the domain.

I used this tool last year, and it worked very well - cleared out over 800 useless machine accounts!

Since you are on 2000/2003, this post will work too:
