  • effective group membership including nested groups

How can I report the real group membership of a user object?

We have excessive use of nested groups so that some users are member of 10 nested groups, which themselve may contain some other groups. So the user is effective in a hundret groups.

I googled a little and found only some VB Scripts.

Hyena will show you explicit ACL entries, but won't resolve them the way you are wanting. For this you might want to look at products like Security Explorer from Small Wonders Software.

I don't meant ACLs rights. Okay, lets explain once mire.

the global groups A1,A2,A3 and A4 are member of the global group A.

the global groups B1,B2 and B3 are members of the global group B.

The User itself is just member of group A and B.

I'd like to know in witch groups the user REALY is.
      A,A1,A2,A3,A4,B,B1,B2,B3

Hyena only shows me A and B (like the users and computer mmc snapin)
we need this because sometimes B is part of A and a user is just in the group A, so it's hard to find out if a user is already in a specified group or should be added.

Hyena won't do this for you either. You might try linking the information somehow using Access or something.

but wouldn't it be a nice little extra feature for a future Version of Hyena?
