  • Feature request

I was looking for a solution last night and came across what appears to be a Hyena competitor. It's called "Ideal Administration" from a company called Pointdev. I don't like it nearly as much as I like Hyena, however it has the feature I was needing. Maybe Hyena can integrate this feature?

It will scan a directory (with a traversal option) and report back all file permissions in a .mdb file (and includes an mdb viewer). I was trying to use CACLS but CACLS output isn't very importable. What do you think?

    Re: Feature request

You can do this with Hyena. You right-click on a Share or directory and choose View NTFS Security. The third option will traverse folders.

The output will be displayed in the right window, and you can do a Tools->Run Report to send it to Hyena's Access database, or do a Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c to dump to a delimited text file. From there you can import it into whatever program you like.

WHEW!!! Hyena saves the day again!!! It's amazing how many little hidden features I still don't know about yet..... Have you ever thought of giving Hyena training via Webex or something similar?

      Thanks again

I realize the training link was posted in 2003 and is no longer valid. Is there a current training opportunity?

It looks like they changed their site around. Just go to the main site and navigate from there:
