  • Can not export printers

I'm trying to export printers for the domain and I am not meeting any success. When I select export and choose only workstation printers...export starts with the servers and ends there. If I try and export from the command line...I get a 1722 error telling me that my domain can not be found. Help!

Send a screen shot of the error you get when you use the command line, as well as the actual command you typed to [email protected].

Also confirm that you let it run to completion.

        Re: Can not export printers

I am having the same problem trying to export workstation printers. I've tried every suggestion posted, from using File > Export to Generate Macros, Updated .ini file, and created a batch file. The batch file produces errors of not a internal or external command. Anymore ideas what I can try? We just started using your product and it is fantastic.

          Kinnaird,

We'll need more details on what problems you are having, but try this method first and let us know what that does.

Go into Hyena and double-click on your Computers object so that your computers are listed in the right window. Select the computers you want to report on. If it is all of them, do a Ctrl-a to select them all.

Then go to Tools->Generate Macro. In the Macro Command String box type in:

          Exporter.exe .\export.ini domain %E%

Type in an Output file name of:

          C:\program files\hyena\printers.bat

          Click OK.

Go out to the Command Prompt and change into your Hyena directory. Type out or Edit the printers.bat file and verify that you have one entry per computer something like:

          Exporter.exe .\export.ini domain computerA
          Exporter.exe .\export.ini domain computerB
          Exporter.exe .\export.ini domain computerC

If so, then run that and when it is complete your output file will contain the computers that were selected in Hyena prior to running the Generate Macro.
