    Is it possible to add a networked printer on a remote print server to a remote workstation from within Hyena?
    I know I could do it through VNC but I was just wondering if it's possible with Hyena natively.

    Adding a network printer remotely like this is not supported by Microsoft, so Hyena wouldn't be able to do this either.

      OK, thanks for the reply!! Just trying to reduce the use of my "sneakernet" network, if you know what I mean. :> )

        Re: Adding a printer

        Using VBScript and WMI, you can create a tool to do such a thing.

        Although, this only works on XP and Server 2K3.

        Got this from the Script Respository 1.1 from Mothership Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre...r/scresorc.asp

        '********** Script starts here ***********
        strComputer = "."
        Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
        & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
        Set objPrinter = objWMIService.Get("Win32_Printer").SpawnInstance_
        objPrinter.DriverName = "HP LaserJet 4000 Series PS"
        objPrinter.PortName = "IP_169.254.110.160"
        objPrinter.DeviceID = "ScriptedPrinter"
        objPrinter.Location = "USA/Redmond/Building 37/Room 114"
        objPrinter.Network = True
        objPrinter.Shared = True
        objPrinter.ShareName = "ScriptedPrinter"
        objPrinter.Put_
        '*********** End script ***************

        Replace the "." with a remote computer name (or a passed variable from Hyena...).

        This can be modified, and you can submit alternate credentials as well. The link above takes you to the pot of gold and the end of the rainbow...

          Re: Adding a printer

          If you are running AD you can add a remote printer to a server by connecting to the server: \\servername then click on printers and this will allow you to add a LPR and share the remote server.
