We are thinking of moving to Linux in house and would like to configure a back end database for Hyena, MySQL is our hope. Have you guys done any testing using MySQL? Any input or help appreciated.

The data visible in Hyena's right window, and through the Export functions, can be saved to a delimited text file. This can then be imported into just about any database utility you require.
