  • Object Manager Object Groupings

    Running 5.7 C.

We have over 12 print servers with about 3000 printers in our environment.

I have created an object grouping called 'Printers' and have marked and added, albeit cumbersome, these printers under the 'Printers' object grouping using the Right button.

Now when I look at the printers, the only columns that were retained from the printers display from Domain>Servers>server>Printers is Printer Name, which was renamed to Object Name and Comment.

New columns that I don't need are Type, Path, Server, ID, ParentID and Auto.

Columns I expected to be there are, Port Name, Share Name, Driver Name, Location, Seperator File, Print Processor, Data Type, Parameters and Jobs.

    What is going on here?

Why did most columns I want disappear and why were columns added that I do not care about?

When you click on your Object Grouping, those are the columns you will see because those are valid for that object type. Keep in mind that and Object Grouping can hold many different types of objects, including different types of objects.

For example you could have computers and printers in there.

If you click on the printers in the grouping, though, Hyena will see that it is a printer and will give you the columns you are used to seeing when clicking on a printer on a server.

Clicking on the printers does not change the columns at all.

I need to be able to create an Access DB for all of my printers and then export to Excel for reporting purposes.

      Help.

Your only solution to this would be to use the Exporter Pro and export the printer information to a delimited text file.
