  • Can not view all machines across subnets

    hello,

After upgrading Hyena with the newest version I am no longer able to view or browse computers or servers on our DMZ subnet. I was able to do this before I upgraded, and nothing has changed in our firewall. I have checked the domain object and have made sure that it is a 2000/2003 domain. Any help would be appreciated

What happens when you try to view them? Are you getting errors?

No, no errors, they are just not listed. either in the server or computer lists

Re: Can not view all machines across subnets

The Servers folder is built from your Windows Browse List, and since these are remote computers they are probably no longer appearing on your list. There is nothing different in this area in the latest Hyena, but can change based on your current browse list.

You should still find them under Computers, though, as long as they have computer accounts in the domain. Look for one of them by name and you should find it.

The solution would be to figure out what changed on your network to cause them to no longer appear on your browse list. An easier option would be to create a static Object Grouping for your servers in File->Manage Object View.

This just happended to me today, as well. I cannot seem much of anything in my environment, and cannot seem to fix it using the Object Manager. Everything was there yesterday, and I don't now what I might have done to remove objects. I'm wondering if I need to remove and reisntall Hyena?

Start from the beginning and explain step-by-step what actions you are taking in Hyena to get to the layer where you are expecting to see something. And indicate whether you have a Windows NT or Windows 2000 domain.

Re: Can not view all machines across subnets

When I opended the console this morning, only one static object and a domain container appeared. The static objects was for enterprise servers; the domain, a W2K domain. Only a portion of the servers appeared in the server object, and nothing was in the domain object. My computer and my user account are in a W2K domain; the servers I manage are in an NT 4 domain. Trusts exist. I tried removing and adding new objects without much success. Same for importing domains. Each time nothing or only a portion of the resources showed.

Support is going to have to have a more detailed discussion with you as I can't really understand.
