Ok.. Actually it was a network problem so this is just to need-to-know bases. In case you're wondering... 
The WINS address in the users Network Settings was incorrect so Hyena didn't find certain domain(s). Everything else in the machine worked but Hyena so it was a bit strange. Hyena did find something but other (more important) domains weren't available at all.
This problem probably doesn't occur anywere else but in our bizarre network. And maybe this teaches one to doublecheck certain options... *blush*
