  • Changes to replicated home directories

We use replication software in our enviornment that makes an exact data copy from several of our production servers to our disaster site (non production). NTFS permissions replicate over but shares and share permissions do not. What I need to do is re-establish the shares & share permissions. The %username% folders are there but they don't have the hidden share. Is there a way in Hyena to recreate the share$?

    Thanks

One thought would be to modify the home directory template to point to the disaster server, then modify a few users to have the new home directory path. Then modify the template back and change the users back to the way they were.

When the template runs it will create the share on the other server, then when you change it back it will see the shares exist on the production servers and not modify them.

Thanks. I got it working, but how can I do this for many users at once? I hope I can do this in batches rather than all at once.

      Thanks

Select as many users as you want in the right-hand window of Hyena, then right-click and choose Properties. When you make that change it will be applied to all selected users.

Yes but when I go to the profile tab I don't have the button to select a template. I only have it if I select a single user.

          Thanks

That's not available once you select multiple users, so you'll just have to type in the new path, such as:

            \\server\%username%$

When you click OK you should be prompted for the template you want to use.
