That's sort of OK. That makes both the home directory name and the share name Firstinitial Lastname. Not what I want. I guess a script is the solution...

%username% comes from the Pre-Windows 2000 Logon Name. When creating your user, try entering the Pre-Windows 2000 Logon Name in the format you want your home directory and see if that will work.

I'm using 6.7D
Here's my problem: In my organization Home Directories are named Firstname Lastname but shared out as Firstinitial Lastname$ (which is our login id as well) I had understood that %username% would return the login id when I used that variable to create directories. When I use that variable in my Home Directory template I get Firstname Lastname as the share name. Have I misunderstood how this variable works? If so, what would I use to get the Firstinitial Lastname (or login name) returned for my share name?Tags: None
