  • Multiple User Home Directory Modifications

I need to change the server portion of the home directory path for a large number of users in our Win2k Active Directory Domain (not all users though). I have not been able to find the proper way to get Hyena v5.5 to do this. I would be very happy if someone can provide the batch file info, the parameter info and any other instructions that I might need to accomplish this.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

To do this you will need to setup a Home Directory Template under Tools->Settings->Home Dir to match the new location.

Then you'll select the users in Hyena's right window that you want to modify, right-click and choose User Properties. Go to the Profile tab and change the Home Directory path information to match what you specified in the template, then click OK.

Thanks for the prompt reply. One further question. If the number of users is large and if they don't all use the same Home Directory / Template, is there a way to use a batch command with parameters specifying the old Home Directory Server and the new Home Directory Server so that only the users who match the "old" data are changed to the "new" data? If so, how should I setup the parameters and how is the batch file (or other executable) constructed or selected?

      Thanks,

      Dan.

The only thing I can think of would be to right-click on All Users and choose Tabular Views->User (Detailed-General). When you do this you'll have a column in the right window for Home Directory, and you can sort on that field by clicking on the column header.

Once you've done that just select the users that have the old path.

Thanks for the help . . . this sounds like the way to handle the task. I'll try it out right away.
