I would like to move our existing homedirectories to our cluster environment, is there a way that this can be done without resharing the directory. Also will this automatically update the users profile to the new server? Thanks...

Re: moving home directories to a cluster environment
Hyena can be used to modify the user properties to point to the new server, and Home Directory Templates will determine how they are configured (permissions, etc.)
I'm not sure what the Cluster adds to the situation, but could easily be tested on a single user before modifying additional users.

Re: moving home directories to a cluster environment
Thanks, I guess what I am trying to find out is, is there a way for Hyena to move the homedirecotries to the new server, I don't want the directory to be reshared in the Cluster environment it's autoshared.
If possible can you instruct how to do this
Thanks..Meg

Re: moving home directories to a cluster environment
First, keep in mind that Hyena won't copy the data for you so you'll have to do that manually.
As far as creating a home directory instead of a share, the format of the data you enter in the home directory field determines that. So, if you just want it to create the directory, you would enter in:
\\server\share\%username%
With share being an existing share that you want your user directories located under.

Re: moving home directories to a cluster environment
Hello,
With MSCS and File shares, you can set it up so that the service shares out all the home dirs. There is a check box that states "Share all sub-directories" and you can designate them as hidden there as well under the cluster resource.
This of course only works if your homedirs use the same naming convention as the share name.
Hope this helps...it is what we did as we average 2500 home dir per cluster....
There is a Microsoft KB article :
KB256926
Implementing Home Folders on a Server Cluster
Hope this helps,
Chad
