  • Default Group membership for new users

Using the "User templates" works like a charm for adding new users etc but is there any way to set it up so that when you create a new user you can specify which groups they should be members of?

This would be most helpful as we have 4 or 5 groups of which most people are members and to have to do this as a two step process is cumbersome when adding multiple users.

    thanks kindly.

The only way to do this is to create user accounts setup with the group memberships the way you want and use them as template users.

Then when you create a new user you can copy that user instead of selecting New User. Hyena will still apply the home directory template settings, and your newly created user will have the same group memberships as the account you are copying.

That is how I am currently doing it - I was hoping that Hyena would be able to do all of this in one go.

Also - In using templates for creating new users etc, can it be added to Hyena that the security applied to the new home directory will also get applied to the profile directory as it currently does not do that?

Last thing - For now - Is there anyway to get Hyena to prompt to delete the users home directory and profile directory when you delete a user? We do not want it automatically deleted in case we have to get files from that directory.

      Thanks.

We will look at adding the ability to have Hyena delete home directories and such in a future update.
