Obtaining a list of users groups from users in a specified global group

I have a list of users who are moving into a different dept. To make transition easier in the meantime I have added them all to a global group. I now want to export a list of their global group membership to tidy up the groups they belong to.
I can export user 'detailed group membership' but the extract shows all the groups in one cell field in excel.
Any ideas how I can obtain the listing and the global groups as separate lines in the extract?
I may be doing this the wrong way, I have version 6.4 but have trialled the latest hyena to see if I can figure out another way. Have tried to use both OU/Container and the global group views.

View the members of the group you put them in, then in the right-hand window select them all with a Ctrl-a. Then go to Tools->Export From Selected Objects, click Settings and enable the export called User Group Membership. You'll find it under Active Directory(users,groups). Click Close and then Start Export. When it is finished you can open the output file with Excel.

When I do this, I am getting a blank output file although I have chosen the output columns as you describe? Don't know what I am doing wrong now!
