  • Generating a report of Device info

Does anyone know how to quickly, generate a report of the following:

Device, Ip Address and MAC address?

    Just something down and dirty.

    Thanks

WMI->Network Adapter Configuration. Select the computers you want, right-click and choose WMI->Execute Query->Network Adapter Configuration, then click the Execute Query button to run it.

      Thanks

... I can't seem to find Network Adapter configuration, but I don't generate queries very much.

Did you right-click and choose WMI? It should be a default query. If not, you can add it: Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration.

Now to run it just select a few computers in the right-hand window, then right-click and choose WMI->Execute Query, select the query you want, then click the Execute Query button.

Re: Generating a report of Device info

Thanks you so much again. I am able to run the WMI query I built.

Sometimes though on the servers or computers

I get access denied or RPC service unavailable.

I am using a Domain admin account. Do I have to make sure RPC SERVICE is running on all.

              Thank you so very much.

              again

Re: Generating a report of Device info

And its not that It's a must to run down the entire list and have a some of these RPC warnings... but is there a way not to have to answer interactively to go on to the next one when an 'ok' is needed. basically, On Error/Warning CONTINUE so just to have a list to the end.

                Thanks CM

Re: Generating a report of Device info

RPC errors are typically communication errors of some sort: computer could be offline, the Windows Firewall could be on and blocking remote requests, etc.

You can disable that warning by going to Tools->Settings->Logging, double-click on WMI - Run Query, and uncheck the box to Show popup errors when processing multiple computers.

                    Thanks cmccullough

seemingly works. Is there anyway I can allow the port that Hyena comes in on to drop or allow it's query without dropping the Firewall? Is that something procedureally I missed somewhere.

Thanks again. You are great help on this board. Kudos

I believe TCP 445 takes care of it.

"...believe TCP 445 takes care of it."

Funny thing is that port is open for file and print services and not even restricted to just our network but open to the internet and it gives me the same error on RPC.

if I even drop the firewall, on some it's access denied.

Bit puzzled on this one?.. hmmm

For access denied from WMI, you might try the information in these threads:
