  • View containers under a user object

Is there any way to do this in Hyena? If I check "View->Users, Groups, Computers as containers" in the ADU&C I can see the containers below each user.

    Any help would be appreciated.

No, I don't think so. There is a way to enable deleting these containers when you delete a user, as they are usually special-purpose.

I'd like to see what the effects would be on such an option in Hyena, but can't test it as I've never figured out how to create a container under a user. Let me know if you know of a way.

Any chance we could get you to come into San Antonio to take a look? ;-)

I know what you are seeing as I've seen them before. If you use ADU&C, and can select one of these containers under a user, right click, select Properties, and on the Object dialog (tab), what does it show for the object class ? Is it a container ?

        Thanks

We use a product from Passlogix called V-Go SSO (Single Sign-On). The object class is showing as vGOUserData.

I was able to create a sub-container object under a computer object and can sort of simulate this. There is a way to get Hyena to display these objects, but its not probably ideal in your case. But for occasional usage:

Click on any OU or the main Containers/OUs object. This will display the OU toolbar on the bottom of Hyena's window. Click the first toolbar button, Traverse Folders, so that its in the 'down' position.

Then, go to Tools->Settings-Active Directory, and enable the option to show all objects (the last option).

Finally, go to any container or OU and view the contents in the right window. You will see all of the sub-objects then.

This should let you see this special container, but if all of your users are in the main Users container, the resulting screen will be messy.

I'm curious what use this vGOUserData folder has for you: Is there a Properties dialog on the vGOUserData object that you can access and manipulate ?

            Thanks

Re: View containers under a user object

I've added an option, which will be available in the next beta (about one-two weeks). To enable the option of seeing other objects, ie special containers, under users, groups, and computers, go to Tools->Settings->Active Directory and enable the last option. This option isn't in the v7.2 release build.
