send message error

when i try and send a message to a user account I get a message thata says "Unable to Send Message to <user>... The message alias could not be found on the network.

What alias is being referrenced inth error message.

Network is Win2K3/AD, Client is WinXPSP2...

any and all help appreciated.

open a cmd box and type in <span style="font-weight: bold">Net Send username testing</span> You should see the same error. Your messenger service needs to be running as well as the person your trying to send the net send to. Messenger service is disabled by XP sp2 if I am not mistaken.
