  • Undelete AD objects

I'm attempting to undelete a user object but the process fails. When I specify the Users container in which I want to restore the user object, I get the following error message:

"Unable to find properly formatted undelete object path for 'CN=User Name\DEL:192e9534-dfe5-4a83-98bd=bf9c817440c0,CN=Deleted Objects,DC=domain,DC=com'."

    Please help.

    Re: Undelete AD objects

Are you attempting to use this function on a Windows 2000 domain ? It would appear that the path does not follow the right convention for a deleted object, which is usually the case for a Windows 2000 domain.

The / should be followed by a 0A, as shown here:

      Re: Undelete AD objects

Thank you for your reply. I am using Hyena on a Windows 2000 domain. I'm trying to restore a deleted object using the Hyena 6.5 administration utility. When I right-click on the deleted user object and choose Undelete, I'm prompted to enter the LDAP name for the container in which I want to restore the object. I enter CN=Users,DC=domain,DC=com, and when I click OK, I get the error message I quoted in my previous post. Is Hyena unable to restore deleted objects? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks so much for your help.

        Re: Undelete AD objects

The undelete is performed by Active Directory, and not Hyena. Windows 2000 apparently does not format the undelete path correctly, so this function appears to be a Windows 2003-only feature, which we did successfully test it on. It appears that Microsoft does not support undeletion on Windows 2000 domains.
