  • Different suffix names in Hyena and AD Users and Computers

When I create a new user object through MS Active Directory Users and Computers, I'm given three choices to use as user logon name suffixs that I’ll call A, B, and C. In Hyena, I’m only given two choices, B and a new choice, D. Any ideas how I can get Hyena to give me the same choices as U & C? This is pretty critical since choice A is the one I need to use and it isn’t available in Hyena.

What version of Hyena are you using ? If its the latest version, there isn't anything that we can do as the suffix list comes from AD and we are using the technique given to us by Microsoft for generating this list. I can give you the steps if you like to verify what you have in the directory structure.

We're using version 6.0 rev B, will be upgrading to 6.2 as soon as it clears testing and our configuration control board.

Yes, I'd like the steps you mentioned. Maybe they will highlight something that I can change on the AD side.

Before we try a more time consuming method, try these steps:

        - First, verify that you are using a DNS path for your domain in Hyena. Click on the first toolbar button, click on your domain in Object Manager, then verify that your path is something like LDAP://mydomain.com and NOT LDAP://mydomain

If its not a DNS path, then change it to the proper DNS path structure. Then, see if your UPN suffix list appears right.

        - Next, run Active Directory Domains and Trusts MMC snapin. Right click on the root item (Active Directory Domains and Trusts) and click Properties to see the upn suffix list. Are the suffixes that are missing in Hyena listed ? If so, let me know so that we can see where they are in AD. If not, add them (it won't hurt anything and you can remove them).
