Creating New Users

I am evaluating the product and everything I've seen so far is very good.

One question I have - Is there any way to automatically generate the User Logon name& Pre 2K name, instead of having to type it in? We use the 1st initial of the first name and 6 characters in the last name (for a 7 character user name)as the naming convention for logons.

Also, after a new user is created, you are able to refresh the right pane and see the new user. How come it does not show up on the left pane unless you close and reopen the application?

Hyena will fill in the Pre-W2K name for you after the user is created, but not the Logon name. There would be no way to specify the 7 character structure, though, so you'd have to do this manually.

Keep in mind that the Pre2K logon name (if it is left blank) will be created from the "Directory Name" field. The other logon field is optional.

If you prefer, you can also use Microsoft's wizard to create users (there is a checkbox at the bottom of the OU selection dialog), and also have Hyena's or Microsoft's properties dialog appear after the user is created.

Hyean does not have to be restarted to see the user in the left window, but for performance and other logical reasons, we can't update the left window tree dynamically when something is added. To refresh the list, just close and reopen the relevant object. For users, close and re-expand the All Users objects. You can also use the left/right arrow keys to do this without using the mouse.
