After I select containers/OU in the left pane, I need to create OU, but it asks me for location of a container to create OU. Now with microsoft User and site I can create the OU under the main branch but with Hyena it wants another container before it would allow me to create the OU

Re: can not create OU under containers/OUs
Version 5.5 rev B
Expand the domain Tree. Select containers/OU folder under domain. Right click, Select New OU. It prompts you with create in. This shouldn't be because you are already in proper container. Now you can put in LDAP:\\domain Name,DC=.... It will create the ou in the proper place.

Re: can not create OU under containers/OUs
I want to create the OU at the first context dialog not three dialogs down the road. You could create a option which allow us to create the ou in current container. It is not user friendly. Microsoft tool already acts properly. We have to switch between your tool and microsoft management tools. so it is in the best interest to bring the best of the both world together.

Re: can not create OU under containers/OUs
We'll consider putting in a default location when creating a new OU at the Containers/OU level in the next release, but keep in mind the following:
- Most OUs are not created at the root of the domain. In general, you should establish a heirarchy of OUs with a mininum number in the root of the domain tree. This issue does not come up much because most users are creating OUs under existing OUs already, which Hyena already defaults the "create in" location.
- You refer to the root of the domain as a "container" but there isn't any container there...its the root. Its like C:\ on your hard disk. Thats why the path is like LDAP://DC=xxx,DC=yyy, there isn't any container, just a reference to the domain.Kevin Stanush

Re: can not create OU under containers/OUs
In looking over this problem further, I determined that Hyena is already defaulting to the root of the directory when creating new OUs at this level. But, Hyena will only display the root domain level if a DNS path is being used for the domain path under File->Manage Object View.
Hyena can manage Active Directory using either a DNS or Netbios path, but using a DNS path is recommended. For example: LDAP://mydomain.com is a DNS path; LDAP://mydomain is a Netbios path.
Exchange functions don't generally work well with Netbios paths and the root of the domain cannot be specified as a target to most functions when in Netbios format.
If you change the domain path format under File->Manage Object View, you should notice the change in the behavior of this function.Kevin Stanush
