  • Why Hyena 4.3 is so slow

I have created a windows XP admin image and
installed Hyena 4.3 as the only administration tool. Our environment is running mixed mode at the moment and when an analyst tries to bring up an user account properties for a password reset, sometimes it takes up to 5 mins before the account information can be seen. Has any one had a similar problem or is there a performance issue with 4.3. Any information will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

When you added this domain, did you add it as a 'Windows Domain' or 'Windows 2000 Domain' object ? You can go into Object Manager (the first toolbar button) to see which way its configured. This is not normal, but before I can give you some things to check on, I need to know this. If it is entered as a Windows domain, try changing it (or adding it again) as a Windows 2000 domain object and see if performance changes. Also, in order to get to the user in question, I assume that the list of users was retrieved quickly ?

Re: Why Hyena 4.3 is so slow

We have 90 domains and one of the 90 is a Windows 2000 domain with AD. For the Windows 2000 domain I have selected 'windows 2000 domain' modified the LDAP path.
The problem happens more when we are trying to retrive the user info from Nt4 domains.

Try going into Hyena's Tools->Settings->User dialog and turn OFF the option show dialup (RAS) information. Restart Hyena and see if the performance is still bad when displaying user properties. If so, go back into Tools->Settings->User and turn OFF the option to show thin client (Terminal Server) information. Again, restart Hyena and see if things are still slow. Finally, if things are still slow, try turning ON the option in the User settings to "Suppress automatic display of all groups and users". You don't have to restart Hyena. I'd like you to change one setting at a time to see which one makes a difference.
