We have a W2K server with Active Directory. We were messing around with Hyena and found that in the user properties, Personal tab, there is a place to insert pictures. We inserted whatever we had at hand (a picture of a flower) and then went to another PC. The picture was there!! Did we stick the picture in Active Directory somewhere??? How can you see pictures in Activity Directory using Microsoft's tools?

Re: Putting pictures on the User Personal tab
Hyena stores the picture into the thumbnailphoto attribute in Active Directory. Microsoft never implemented this feature in their tools, however. To store the picture, Hyena converts the picture into binary and writes it into this attribute, then reads it back and displays it. Its safe to use, but make sure that you use only GIF and JPG file formats due to the size.Kevin Stanush

Re: Putting pictures on the User Personal tab
I don't know what other tools can view the picture. The picture in this case is a binary stream, and not a pointer to a file. There isn't any Microsoft standard on what to put into this field, either or how large the picture can be.Kevin Stanush
