  • Assigning groups when using Templates

When creating a new user using a Hyena template is there a way of automatically assigning the users to groups? The copy user command creates a new user with the appropriate groups. However, the process of creating home directories and their shares does work when copying users.

This will need to be done using the Copy User option.

When copying a user Hyena will use your Home Directory Template for the new account.

What problems are you having getting this to work?

      To clarify...
When I copy users, I find that the home directory path is copied over and no directory or share is created. (It uses the path from the copied user account.) I then have to manually change the profile path and create directories and shares. Can you suggest any workaround where I can use the template to create the dirs and shares and also put the users in the correct groups without haveing do it manually.

The account that you are copying will need to have the same home directory structure as your template.

For example, since you want to create shares it should be in the format of \\server\%username%

If it isn't like that you can type this in on the Profile tab, and then when you click OK Hyena will apply the template for that user and create the directory and share as defined in the template.

If you still are unable to get this to work, send a screen shot of your home directory template and a screen shot of the Profile tab just prior to clicking OK to [email protected]
