How do I copy settings from an earlier Hyena installation? I had to reinstall my W2K so I copied the whole Hyena directory & registry settings for a backup. I preserved my tools settings but I can't get the Object manager items back even if I copied the ad_* files from the previous installation. What did I miss?

    Regards,
    Jari

    Re: Copying settings

Search your computer and make sure you are copying the ad_*.dat files to the same directory that your current ad_*.dat files are located.

They should either be in your Hyena directory or your profile directory, but you can't have files in both locations.

The quickest way to tell is search your hard drive for ad_objects.dat.

Thanks, I'll do a full search ASAP.
For wish list: would it be possible to have a menu option for backing up & restoring tools/objects/all settings? And/or detailed help for us dummies to do it...

      Regards,
      Jari

        Re: Copying settings

I've copied the files, as stated, from one installation to another, but not all the settings have transfered. e.g. Tools, Settings on the new installation is set to the default - no templates, Exchange2000 configurations, etc.

Have I missed a file or two!?!?!?

Those settings are saved by going to Tools->Settings->General, entering a Shared Settings File Name and checking the box to Save all of these settings into shared settings ini.

When you click OK, your settings will be saved to that file. Point your other computers to that file and they will have the same settings as in the file.

              Re: Copying settings

I tried to copy the ad_*.dat files and making a shared .ini file. The install on my upgraded PC still doesn't match the old copy. On the Domain folder, had several other options that just don't show up (like Containers/OUs, All Groups, Universal Groups)

                Re: Copying settings

Go to File->Manage Object View, click on your domain and change the Type to Windows 2000 Domain. You'll have to enter an ADSI Path in the format of LDAP://domain.

Thanks, making the change to the Type Domain did the trick. Funny though, I thought I did the install the exact same way it was done on the first install??

Thanks again for the great help!!
