Re: Servers Not showing Under server container

    Lahtinenk,

Compare network settings on your laptop with the settings on the working computer. Especially look at NetBIOS settings.

The import domains function also uses the browse list to get the list of domains. The computer name displayed next to the domain is from the comment portion of the entry. Usually, Windows builds the comment by placing the PDC name into this field. I would look at the role played by this computer for this domain to see its relationship, but the entry by itself does not mean anything, we just display the comment and put the \\ in the front of it since its always a computer name.

There are utilities from Microsoft that let you see the browse list, and they will show the same thing.

Yes, the legacy systems still haunt us. This can be fixed by enabling WINS on all of your servers and the workstation that you have hyena installed on. Once you set it, run nbtstat -RR or reboot them and it will populate the Server section.

I had tried many methods to fix this. Sometimes a reboot would take care of me, but not always. I tried restarting the computer browser service, clearing the ARP cache, nbtstat -RR, etc. The odd thing was the net view command and the formerly-known-as network neighborhood window showed a couple more machines than the "servers" tree in Hyena.

I found a solution that worked for me, based on the details in this thread at tomshardware.com: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/19...k-neighborhood

If I disable the computer browser service on my local machine, the system has no choice but to go out to the Master Browser on the DC and get the list of machines. Give it a shot (YMMV, offer void where prohibited, etc).

It turns the problem is with the OS and not hyena, the issue is with how xp virtural machine handles netbios, for what ever reason xp mode virtual machine does not work with netbios browser service, even though it is turned on and running and configured probably, I think it has to do with the ip addressing, the vitural machine gives it self a 192.168 address using it self as the gateway, I installed admin2008 tools under win7 and everything works fine under win7, the admin2008 remote admin tools are compatible with windows 2003 r2 AD structure.

I use that feature to build a list of all domain controllers and servers then I use the event log filter to search for warnings, and errors on all those servers, with in a few minutes I can search the event logs of all the servers for any issues that happened over night.
