  • Installing Hyena 8.5

When installing Hyena 8.5 over 8.1 with either my Domain Admin or the Local Admin account I get the following Error msg

You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an admnistrators account.

Can you tell me what permissions its looking to change? Either of the accounts I used should of had the horse power do to the job.

    Thanks!

What OS are you installing on?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

        Re: Installing Hyena 8.5

Running a quick online search, it sounds like you have something locked down on your system. Either your ability to write to the c:\program files directory, or the registry, or something along those lines.

          Re: Installing Hyena 8.5

I gave my admin account 'Full' permissions to C:\Program Files\Hyena - No Joy, same error.

I checked the registry and did not see an entry for Hyena or SystemTools under HKLM\Software

Could there be a registry entry that needs permission changes?

          I also looked under
          C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
          but didnt see anything.

          Thanks again for your help.

I checked with Development to verify that the install really doesn't do much. They suggested that you try installing to a directory other than c:\program files to see if that will get it working for you.

              Re: Installing Hyena 8.5

The issue turned out to be with the installion program. You use a .tmp file to cleanup the registry. We use HBSS which doesnt like your process. Once I checked the event logs and then the HBSS logs, the problem became clear. I have the HBSS Admin bypass the block one time so I could install the update.

Other users of Hyena who have HBSS in play may also come across this.

Thanks for posting a fix to the issue. Our current 32-bit installation, Wise, is actually creating this file. But we have migrated all of our installs away from Wise into InstallShield, and once we know that there are not any problems, we will transition fully to InstallShield. I'm sure Installshield has its own set of problems, but at least it will be something different.
