  • Win XP Installation Upgrade dcomcnfg ERROR

    Many times when I try to install an online download, it fails with an error 'unable to install it with this version of Windows.' I did the Windows Update Utility and after it does its online analysis, it fails during download and give me the following error code '0x80070005'

    I have googled and did some registry edits and few other security changes, its still not a success. (I've read the other forum in reference to the above error and then discovered dacCom error!

    Any computer savvy people here for guidance?

    Googled ---> 0x80070005
    Following results which didn't make much sense
    Went to 'dcomcnfg' which tells me, 'dacCom not installed property'

    It's one thing after another.

    I've never heard of this problem, but make sure:

    - When you download the file, save it to a temp location on your drive, and then run it directly through Windows after it downloads. Don't run it directly through Internet Explorer, ie through the same dialog that you have downloaded it through.

    - Make sure you are logged in as a local administrator when installing any application.

    Hyena's install is about as basic as it gets.

    Also, if you are using Windows Vista, make sure you run the setup.exe by choosing the "Run as Administrator" option on the menu.
