  • Cannot access Network Resources

When ever I try to list any network resource (Servers, Domain Controllers, Comptuers, etc...) I receive this error:

Unable to list computers. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

I am using an account that has network admin rights.

    Thanks for the help.

      Re: Cannot access Network Resources

First check to see if your Computer Browser service is running. If not, start it and see if that fixes the issue. If it is running, or doesn't change anything, let us know how the domain is configured under File->Manage Object View.

My computer browser is stopped and will not start. Message states that the service started and then was stopped. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions on that one, but that is probably why you are getting the other error in Hyena. If you can correct that issue you should be set.

            Re: Cannot access Network Resources

Since this is an AD environment, you should not normally get this error, except for the Servers list which uses the browse list. The other objects you reference, Domain Controllers or Computers don't use the browse list, so this error would never occur.

Verify under File->Manage Object View that you have your domain configured as a Windows 200x domain and NOT a Windows domain.

You can manage your servers under the Computers object and turn off the Servers node entirely; I would not bother trying to fix the browser service since you are presumably getting by fine without it.

I was able to get the Computer browser to start AND changed the setting to Windows 200x domain. Still receiving the same error. Any suggestions?

              Thanks

                Re: Cannot access Network Resources

Do you still get this error now? Can you verify that you get it from other than the Servers folder?

You are expanding your domain I assume, so can you see All Users or All Groups, etc?
